Instruction at Lovedean Karate Club is conducted by Sensei Brian Smith 6th Dan (pictured right). Beginning his training in 1974 he has accumalated a wealth of experience mainly from training and grading under some of the worlds most senior and respected instructors including Masters ENOEDA,SHIRIA,KASE,TSUYAMA along with the late former chief instructor to the Japan Karate Association Master MASATOSHI NAKAYAMA.

Championship honours include both kata and kumite individual titles to accompany team success with Lovedean, Portsmouth and SEKU along with the captaincy of all three.

 
     
   
 
   
     
       
Since his retirement from competition in 1987 he has been involved in conducting courses and gradings for SEKU from beginner to black belt level in the position of grading examiner. Although no longer actively competing he has maintained a championship role training and teaching the SEKU squad for matches around the country.
